Get Water Out of iPhone Speakers

All iPhone users try to protect their device from different kinds of damage – whether it is a slight crack on the screen or some amount of water in iPhone speaker. They are very particular about keeping their valuable iPhones in top condition.

One reason behind this could be their attachment to their smartphones. The other reason, of course, is iPhone’s extravagant repair charges.

That’s right, iPhone reparations can prove to be as costly as buying a new decent Android phone.

So, if your iPhone has some water in its speaker, don’t panic. Take a deep breath, and follow the article carefully. We might have a free solution to your expensive problem!

4 Ways of How to Get Water Out of iPhone Speakers

The newer iPhones, especially newer than the iPhone 7 series, have a decent IP rating on them. But they’re still not waterproof. If water manages to clog your iPhone’s speaker, you won’t be able to get it replaced as Apple doesn’t cover water damage in its warranty.

So, what should you do in such a situation? Below is a list of some effective solutions to get rid of water from iPhone speakers.

1. Keep your iPhone in a Rice Bag

We have all heard about the classic theory of rice sucking out the moisture from your phone in case you’ve dropped it in a jar of water. But is there any truth to it?

Yes, putting your iPhone in a rice bag could work to some extent. But the effectiveness of the solution depends on how much water damage your iPhone has faced.

Keeping an iPhone with waterlogged speakers in a rice bag will help absorb moisture from your iPhone. Slowly but surely, your speaker will get dry. But the process is too slow and will be rendered ineffective if there’s a large amount of water in your iPhone.

There are other, more effective ways to get water out of an iPhone speaker. Let’s talk about some of them.

2. Use an Application

If you want to go manual, you can use an application that is specifically designed to get water out of iPhone speakers. All you need to do is go and search for the application named “Sonic” on your Apple store.

Unfortunately, you might encounter a lot of apps related to the Sonic games and film franchise. So it’s easier if you just use this link here.

So once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, you might be required to enter a password, Face ID, or any other form of security check.

Here’s what you need to do from here:

  1. Open the sonic application.
  2. Make sure the iPhone is laid flat on some sturdy surfaces. It’s a bonus if you can find a slightly inclined surface as gravity would help make the process faster.
  3. You’ll see a water drop icon. Tap and hold it down.
  4. Now, you can set the frequency manually. Set it to anywhere between 160 and 200.
  5. Keep repeating the above process until you stop seeing water droplets coming out of the speaker.

Please note that if this method is not working for you, then you can also allow the application to automatically set the appropriate sound frequency to help push the water out.

3. Use Siri Shortcuts

If you don’t have Siri Shortcuts installed on your iPhone already, do so immediately. It comes with an effective shortcut called Water Eject.

There is a vast similarity in the method used by the Water Eject shortcut and the technique that Sonic application uses to push water out of an iPhone speaker. They both play sounds of specific frequencies that force the water to seep out of the speaker grill.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Install the Shortcuts application from your Apple store.
  2. After downloading, install the Water Eject shortcut.
  3. Once you have installed it, you can run the application by tapping the shortcut icon.

Once you’ve run the application, it would play a sound frequency. You might not be able to hear anything, but if you see water droplets coming out of the speaker grills, the method is working.

Once the process is complete, listen to audio on your phone to confirm that the voice has returned to normal.

4. Use a Website

If you don’t want to go through the trouble of downloading applications on your iPhone, you can even use a website.

The website in question can be found on the link www.fixmyspeakers.com. It is very simple to use and has a user-friendly interface. It does only one thing – get water out of speakers.

All you need to do is open the website, and tap on the only button that you would see on your screen. This would initiate a sound sequence on your phone. Once you think that all the water has come out of the speakers, tap on the button again to stop the sound.

Parting Words

Contrary to the popular belief, getting water inside an iPhone speaker is not irreversible damage. You can easily get water out of your iPhone speakers by using any of the methods mentioned above.

If none of these are working for you, you might want to contact Apple support as water might not be the only reason that your speakers are not working.

We hope that this article helped you save a lot of money by enjoying a free fix for an expensive problem!
